Vocational day Wednesday 15th April saw our team headed for different areas relating to their work. Rogen visited the offices of a local lawyer who just happened to have been a GSE Team Leader to France several years ago so he was well aware of the benefits to Rogen. Meanwhile Kelly and Jennifer went to the Local council and met the Mayor and viewed how local government administration worked in New Zealand. Tania went to a local graphics arts company and discovered the mechanics of marketing New Zealand style. Brian visited the Remax office and had an interesting exchange of ideas and real estate trends and predictions with his Remax commercial counterparts.
Then we all met at Vaudrey Miller yachts in a large factory of about 5000m2 with roof heights of about 14m. Vaudrey Miller representatives gave us an insight into the changing scenario caused by the shifting sands of global finances where they have gone from constructing yachts that look something like Greg Normans Aussie Rules to specialising in the construction of purpose built tenders that are used to shuttle passengers aboard the large luxury yachts ashore. These tenders generally are winched aboard the yachts and hidden beneath the after deck. They range in size from say 10 to 13m long and are well fitted out to a high standard of finish. They seem to have a cost of about NZ$2m each and take 12 months to construct.
Our many thanks to the various entities that gave freely of their time yesterday to make our visits such an interesting educational experience.
